Ten individuals sentenced of cyber-bullying directed at Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for engaging in the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced allegations of disseminating untruths regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to publishing defamatory statements about the couple's age disparity of 24 years.
The court delivered suspended jail terms of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has still to be made public.
A longstanding unfounded claim suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has existed since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons initiating a legal action for defamation in the US against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared similar conspiracy theories about the Brigitte Macron's gender.
Their legal filing contends that Owens ignored substantial counter-evidence disproving her claim in favour of give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has regularly repeated these assertions on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 declared that she would risk all her credibility on her conviction that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron first met her now-husband when she was a teacher at his secondary school.
The pair married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
